Description: The Colonnade Player are pleased to announce performances of “The Dixie Swim Club” on October 13, 14, 20 & 21 at 7:30pm, October 14 at 1:00pm and October 22 at 2:30pm. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatisits Play Service Inc. (440 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10016), “The Dixie Swim Club” is touching comedy that follows the friendships of five southern women who met while on their college swim team.

Comedies by writers Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten are some of the most produced plays in theatre. Think “The Golden Girls” meets “Steel Magnolias”. Warm and funny dialogue with some heart wrenching moments and mad-cap comedy make this show one you will treasure and miss when it is over.

“The Dixie Swim Club” follows these five friends as they meet through the years in reunions at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. They catch up and recharge their relationships, taking us on a fun walk down memory lane and making us laugh and cry with their antics and stories.

Director Kimberly Tyner Jones and Stage Manager Renee Lierow lead the cast of Kim Jenkins (Sheree Hollinger-spunky team captain turned group leader), Alice Carbaugh (Dinah Grayson-wisecracking, overachieving lawyer), Rebecca Lapp (Lexie Richards – pampered, outspoken and determined to hold onto her looks as long as possible), Chrissy Baker (Jeri Neal McFeeley – sweet, eager to please and a little zany), and Kitty Reel (Vernadette Simms – with a seemingly dark cloud hanging over her head a more than enough chaos) through years of advice, raucous repartee, challenges and a surprising direction that tells the story of friendship that last forever.

Ticket prices are $8.00, $10.00 or $12.00 and can be purchased at 706-935-9000 or colonnadecenter.org. The show has a run time of about 1 ½ hours and is more suited for older audiences due to the nature of the themes and situations addressed in the script.
